Founded in Dublin in June 2006, BalconyTV has over 20 million videos from 22 cities around the world including Prague, New York, Melbourne and Auckland. Winner of the Best Music Website at the Irish Digital Media Awards 2007, BalconyTV has featured and supported hundreds of exciting up and coming performers, along with many established and recognised acts. Musicians such as The Script, Mumford & Sons, Nouvelle Vague, The Temper Trap, Biffy Clyro and Ash have all featured on BalconyTV. Dublin band The Script has the highest views on BalconyTV for their 2007 performance of ‘We Cry’ in Dublin, which has over two million views.

Cork indie-pop legends Fred

On Tuesday evening, Cork indie-pop legends Fred launched BalconyTV Cork by filming at Electric Bar on the South Mall. The Cork edition was founded by Joanne Collins and John Hough on a voluntary basis. BalconyTV Cork will be broadcasting twice a week on Tuesday and Fridays. Acts lined up to perform on the Electric Bar balcony include Dylan Fitzgerald, Diarmuid O’Leary, Anto Yau and Lynda Cullen.

The Cork music scene has been thriving in recent years. This announcement will help Cork to launch its favourite acts as well as the undiscovered talent roaming the streets of the Irish city.
